We monitor our patients closely to keep them as safe as possible during procedures that require general anesthesia. A veterinary technician will be at your pet’s side to continually assess heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk.
It is also part of our protocol to have all patients on IV fluids while under anesthesia and during recovery. This helps maintain a healthy blood pressure, makes up for any fluid losses that may occur during surgery, and allows us to rapidly administer medications, should the need arise during or after the procedure.
Please feel free to ask us about our patient monitoring protocol or any concerns you might have about your pet’s procedure. We’d be happy to discuss these matters in more detail.
